Hey Lindsay

Enjoying your blog (some of the older posts too) and feel like I have similar issues in my day job as programme leader for distance learning programme in NHS Leadership (me:England - students & tutors: Scotland).

We have an on line survey which we adapted from standard Module Evaluation Questionnaire and added some on-line specific q's. We use Questionmark Perception and reporting options are good.

Response rates are low (30% if lucky) but compared to sending out email/paper based response fairly easy. I wonder if individual emailed request/e-form to complete might get more response? Easier to ignore a "click this" request....?

I know what you mean about standard feedback not being suited to DL students (not that I'm 100% sure it's ideal for on campus students...)

That tool you're using sounds good; we've currently got centrally designed ones delivered via the VLE (again, not convinced its the best option - especially as they're listed as an "assessment" ... which they aren't)

I'm not sure if you get the online summary of The Chronicle (US HE Online Journal) but today's issue had something about the problems of standard student surveys & DL students - though it was more along the lines, I think, of the NSS. http://chronicle.com/wiredcampus/index.php?id=3753&utm_source=wc&utm_medium=en
However, some shared points!
